There’s more to Dartmoor than Haytor, but have you tried walking any other parts of the moor? The Dartmoor Walking Festival runs from Saturday 27 August until Sunday 4 September inclusive, covers all areas of Dartmoor and is open to all ages and abilities. Why not try a walk with art in mind at Fingle Bridge; visit the prehistoric kist on Whitehorse Hill; navigation for beginners at Princetown; a night walk at Sharpitor; Chagford Pool Nordic Walk (and optional swim); try a tramper at Castle Drogo; or attend a talk on the Two Moors Way, Devon’s Coast to Coast route? The festival is run by Moorland Guides with full support from the National Trust and Dartmoor National Park. Find out more in this Dartmoor Walking Festival leaflet that has over 60 events to try. Some events are free and any one can turn up, but please check the leaflet for further details, booking and prices.
