Devon Naturally Healthy Month

There’s now loads of evidence that the natural environment makes us feel better. You don’t have to walk far, you don’t have to own a mountain bike, and there are lots of things you can do that are totally free!  There are many suggestions on Explore Devon of ways to explore Devon’s fantastic environment which is best done by leaving the car behind; good for your health as well as the environment!  There are ideas for walks or cycle rides to suit your tastes, all of which have points of interest along the way.  To get you started, why not meet people, learn something new and join a guided walk? Here is just one idea on offer this month:

‘LYNMOUTH AND THE POWER OF WATER’, a guided walk around Lynmouth, Exmoor, followed by coffee and cake at the Pavilion dining room.

Date: Friday 20th May
Time: Meet at 10:00am for a 10:30am start ( there is a registration form every walker has to complete before they can join the walk)
Location: Meet at the Lynmouth Pavilion, The Esplanade, Lynmouth EX35 6EQ
Duration of walk: One hour

The walk will consist of a tour of Lynmouth and around the Manor to see the view across the Bristol Channel, then on to the Lime Kilns, taking in more spectacular views of Lynmouth along the way. The route is broadly a Level 1/ 2 with a short climb and descent towards the end. It is all on maintained hard terrain paths with just the last 50 yard descent being a beaten earth path to the Lime Kiln. The walk will be led by trained walk leaders Dave Wilde and Barbara Grant. The walk will take one hour at a moderate pace and will end at the Lynmouth pavilion for a cuppa and a chat. If you would like to attend the walk contact Barbara Grant, 01237 420130.
