About this route

Killerton’s woodlands, including Ashclyst Forest and Danes Wood, are home to ancient and veteran trees, especially oak and chestnut. Danes Wood offers a peaceful setting with seasonal changes and historical ties to Viking raiders. Ashclyst Forest is rich in wildlife, known for rare butterflies and various bird and bat species. Both areas are ideal for walking, cycling, or horse riding.
